Truly a hidden gem. At the end of a long road right before you hit the bay, this place does not have an ounce of tourist in it, and is that much better for it. You can tell the fish and seafood are fresh caught from the water just yards away. The spicy crab soup and rockfish were amazing. They also had a bomb cobbler from local peaches.
I graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland 7 years ago, and I cannot believe I missed out. I finally came across this hidden secret last weekend during our Alumni Weekend and it was spectacular. It is a small family owned and operated establishment, that catches their fish the morning of service! Do not hesitate to go here. We had a large party so we had to wait for a food ( it was also busy with other visiting alumni for dinner), but remember they catch prepare what they catch the day of. This was the best seafood I've ever had ( I had the flounder, and sampled my friends' food). The dessert was very good as well. I will return when I'm back in the area.
The Broiled seafood plate was amazing. The soup and salad bar is definitely the way to go. Portions are a bit small for the price but quality is great!
NOT Red Lobster, and that's fantastic. Very personal experience in a small cozy Southern MD venue. Great seafood that can't possibly be fresher. If you're not a local you may be set back by the Lack of ambience, but suck it up, it's worth it.
Awesome seafood. The soft shell slammer, (a BLT with a fried soft shell on a home made roll) is my favorite. Good, fresh caught seafood from the Bay and river. Service is very slow. This is not a place for when you are in a rush, but that's part of the beauty of going to Courtney's, it's a time to slow down.
It's definitely a leisurely meal, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy the homey vibe. Our server was very friendly and knew we would want the dessert even before we admitted it.
