We tasted some decent wines last Summer in a relaxed atmosphere. Only one red 'wine', which was accidentally mixed with grape juice by the bottling company, was not to our taste. We bought a few bottles of white and even went back the next day to try out a different red wine, which we liked. We purchased two of these, too - so we thought... The bottles turned out to contain this weird grape juice blend, but were labeled differently...
My favorite winery in southern Maryland...good wine....beautiful atmosphere and fantastic people!
Is this place even ever open anymore? The last three times we tried to go there they were closed and not listed as such on their website, the last time they were they weren't even doing wine tasting because they had another vendor doing whiskey tasting so we rolled. I've only tried their wine once and it isn't bad but our 10 minute tasting took 45 because the lady doing it kept picking up new people and let them all "catch up" every time a new couple entered. It's out of the way and there are much better wineries in the local areas so if you're planning a day trip I'd plan to end here this way your not disappointed or misinformed.
Beautiful Sunday enjoying wine, waterviews and great music!
We are deeply disappointed to have wasted close to $150 on their wines. We can only advise against buying bottles at their store. We are also still baffled how this grape juice blend got into these mislabeled bottles...
We saved our purchased bottles for some family gatherings under proper storage conditions for about 6-7 months. To our shock, all bottles were maderized. They still had a slight fizz, indicating that they still were not completely fermented. This indicates that all bottles were heat-damaged, and not oxidized due to a failing cork. All bottles have lots of wine stone and other precipitate, meaning that the wine was not stabilized properly before bottling. The whites are turbid, indicating a poor filtration and remaining yeast...
We suspect that Slack stores their bottles without any temperature control in their small tasting shed/store, which heats up a lot during the Summer. We arrived earlier than the owner for our tasting appointment, and we didn't notice that any AC was running. One image in a different review shows all those bottles on shelves.
Attended a wedding and reception here. Wonderful views and atmosphere.
